BREASTFEEDING & HEALTH

We are fortunate enough to have a badass breastfeeding mommy as part of our amazing group here and she has agreed to share her experiences with you all and offer support and advice to any of our mama's out there who have decided to take the breastfeeding journey! We would also like to take this opportunity to invite the partners of breastfeeding mommies and babies to read and enjoy this page, as it might offer you some ideas on how to support your baby and your partner without feeling like you are being left out of this awesome bonding experience!
We would also like to let parents out there know that we realize that breastfeeding is not always the right choice for everyone, and that we do support parents out there who choose to formula feed! We support whatever life style you have chosen for your family!
This page will also be for Health related topics since our resident breastfeeder is also about to graduate as a nurse practitioner rather soon! She is already an RN and has offered to answer any questions you all may have regarding basic health concerns! Isn't she the best?--We love her!
We do ask that you read our Disclaimer page before participating in any health advice. We want to stress to you that The Nursing Nurse is not your family doctor, nor does she know your case personally! We want our readers to understand that this blog is not a professional source of care, but rather meant to be a helpful resource. We urge you to always contact your own physician for an official diagnosis to any health issues! The Nursing Nurse will always be happy to post articles and answer any general, basic health questions, but again, in cases of suspected illness, please contact your primary care physician!

Hello Readers!
Let me introduce myself....I am a mom in my 20s with a beautiful 6 month old daughter (Bug). I am married, but my husband works as a store manager in retail so he works long hours and lots of overtime. Because of this, I am the primary caretaker of our daughter and end up doing lots of things on my own, though he would love to be able to be here more. He has wonderfully taken up the role of the sole bread winner so that I can finish my graduate degree as well as care for our baby. I'm a registered nurse and have been since 2010. This coming May, I will graduate with my Family Nurse Practitioner Degree! If you are not familiar with nurse practitioners, they are basically doctors. They can serve as your primary care provider as well as write prescriptions, diagnose, and treat illness. Many say that they prefer nurse practitioners because we tend to be better listeners.
So, why am I here exactly? To answer all your health questions! I'm here with any questions you may have that come up with your little ones. From when to worry about a fever to the mysterious rash that won't go away, I will do my best to answer all of your questions and concerns. I'm also a breast feeding mommy, my daughter was exclusively breast fed until recently when I decided to introduce some solids. She still nurses several times a day and gets her primary nutrients from breast milk. I'm here to help answer any and all questions you may have about breast feeding (or nutrition in general). Let me help you make your breast feeding experience successful! Keep your eyes out for blogs on health topics such as ear infections, fevers, breast feeding, when to call a Dr, etc. Happy reading and I look forward to answering your questions!
